Sport Day

The just concluded one-month sports session at Kyambogo College School was a thrilling and action-packed extravaganza, showcasing the incredible talent and dedication of the six houses: Panther, Elephant, Cheetah, Lion, Rhino, and Tiger. The session featured a wide range of outdoor and indoor games, culminating in an epic Athletics competition that left a lasting impact on all participants.

 Kyambogo College School sports day was graced by esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Mr. Mukesh Babubhai Shukla, Chief Executive Director of Shumuk Aluminum Industries. The event also had the honor of hosting Minister of State for Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang, Prof. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya (Kyambogo University’s Vice Chancellor), and various members of the college Board of Governors, PTA, and Asian community executives. Notably, His Worship Julius Mutebi Nsubuga, the Lord Mayor of Kiira Municipality to mention but a few, added to the event’s significance. Their presence highlighted the event’s importance, promoting sports and unity within the Kyambogo College School community.

The sports session commenced with round-robin fixtures for boys and girls in various outdoor games, including Volleyball, Basketball 3on3, Netball, Handball, and Touch Rugby. The students exhibited exceptional teamwork and competitive spirit, making every game a nail-biting experience. The matches were fierce, and the houses cheered passionately for their representatives.

The indoor games of Chess, Badminton, Ludo, and Table Tennis offered a different thrill, focusing on strategic thinking and precise execution. The students showcased their mental acuity and dexterity, resulting in closely contested matches that kept the audience engrossed.

The football tournament was another highlight of the sports session. The teams competed in group stages, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals. The knockout rounds witnessed exceptional performances, and the finals were a display of skill and determination, with the houses going all out to secure victory.

The Cross Country event followed, challenging the endurance and stamina of the participants. The girls took on a demanding 5km course, while the boys tackled a more grueling 7.5km route. The athletes exhibited unwavering determination, pushing themselves to the limits to reach the finish line.

The grand finale of the sports session was the Athletics competition, which served as the sports day. The students competed in sprints of 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m across different age categories. The juniors and seniors showcased incredible speed and agility, thrilling the spectators with their impressive performances. The short and long relays (4x100m and 4x400m) added an extra layer of excitement, as the houses battled for relay supremacy.

The winner of all the points combined went away with two cash prizes of one hundred thousand from Old student BOG member, one million shillings from the Chief Guest and a very big healthy Cow from the Administration.

The one-month sports session at Kyambogo College School was a resounding success, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. It provided a platform for students to display their talents and fostered a sense of camaraderie among the six houses. The dedication and enthusiasm shown by the participants created lasting memories and anticipation for future sports events.
